YEAR 7.1 IS COMING THIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Each year over Memorial Day weekend we celebrate our anniversary with family and friends from near and far. Last year, like many others, we were unable to hold our favorite celebration. This year, we’re giving it a little extra time and hosting Year Seven over Labor Day Weekend instead!
BUT – that doesn’t mean we don’t still have something special planned for you.
We’re keeping it small this Memorial Day weekend (small for Orpheus that is), meaning we’re still going totally overboard. We’ll be releasing:
– Seven new bottles.
– Two new draft offerings.
– Special cellar tapings daily.
A ceremonial cask tapping of our Jack Daniels barrel-aged barleywine, Room A Thousand Years Wide (happening 2 p.m. on Friday 5/28)!!
– Food available daily from our famous Orpheus Hot Dog Stand.

All releases will be added to Oznr starting Thursday (5/27) without limits. Bottle pick-ups will begin Saturday (5/29) at 12:30 p.m. No tickets required, just come hang.

BOTTLE RELEASES –

Lyrical: Galaxy/Hallertau Blanc | 6.6% ABV – based on our former favorite, Lyric Ale, we fermented this saison in barrels with all native house cultures. After an appropriately long slumber we blended barrels and lightly dry-hopped it with Galaxy and Hallertau Blanc before bottling and letting mature for an additional 6 months. Vinous, fruity, dry, tart, and funky, this is the kind of beer we love to drink. Label art by Peter Ferrari.

Lyrical: aged hops | 6.6% ABV – based on our former favorite, Lyric Ale, we fermented this saison in barrels with all native house cultures. After an appropriately long slumber we blended barrels and lightly dry-hopped it with cheesy aged hops we would normally use for our spontaneously fermented beers before bottling and letting mature for an additional 6 months. Vinous, fruity, dry, tart, cheesy, and funky, we can’t get enough of this. Label art by Peter Ferrari.

Yesternow | 5% ABV – A single barrel of 2 year old spontaneous coolship beer, this cask really stood out for its beautiful balance of fruit, acid, funk, and hops. Label art by Sam Parker, originally done for our Year 4 release of Yesternow.

Barrel-Aged City in the Trees | 11% ABV – Starting with 100% Weyermann Barke pilsner malt, we boiled City in the Trees for 16 hours to develop deep flavors and color. This doppelbock lagered for months before going into ASW Duality Whiskey barrels. The Duality whiskey is a blend of rye and cherrywood smoked barley, which brings beautiful pipe tobacco and spice to the rich and malty base for a caramel whiskey candy of a beer. Yes, we did just release the non-barreled version of this beer – it sat around for a couple seasons waiting for someone to name it while the rest of it developed further in barrels. Try them side by side! Label art by Sam Parker.

Mining Solitude From Darkness | 12.9% ABV – Boil for a day or two, 28 months in bourbon barrels, a big mess of macadamia and coconut, you’re welcome. Label art by Laura Vela.

Stouts All The Way Down: Vol. 15 | 13% ABV – Boil for a day or two, 28 months in a single bourbon barrel, add mushrooms. That’s right, mushrooms. Not the weird mushrooms your mom used to put in your stouts, but candy cap mushrooms that cost us twice as much as vanilla beans. Just trust us because it’s been 7 years and we’ve never let you down. Except that 8% thing we’re all going to forget happened and not talk about it here. Label art by Sam Parker.

Today, I Choose Violence | 13% ABV – Boil for a day or two, 28 months in bourbon barrels, add ghost peppers, cocoa nibs, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg for a heady Mexican chocolate inspired indulgence. Label art by Sam Parker.

DRAFT RELEASES –

Here Secrets Lie | 13% ABV – the first in a new single barrel stout and barleywine series, this stout spent 28 months in a 14 year Knob Creek barrel selected by Sprayberry Bottle Shop for a store pick. Look for bottles in a few weeks.

Lustral | 7.9% ABV – Featuring Simcoe Cryo and Sabro on a rich, silky base of malted oats, spelt, and torrefied wheat, this hazy IPA is full of tangerine, papaya, pineapple, and light coconut. You’ll find a silky smooth body derived from massive amounts of oats and spelt used with a juicy, fruit-forward finish.
